Twitter and Facebook Down or Hacked

It's been hours since I can't login to my twitter and facebook account. I heard that twitter and facebook were attacked and hacked.

When I checked the Twitter site a few a hours ago, it had an update that says:

Update: we are defending against a denial-of-service attack.

But now it says that Twitter and Facebook are back up and operating somewhat normally.
