The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning, the highest level of a tsunami alert, for the entire Pacific region, including Hawaii, South America, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many Pacific islands.

Alan Alvarez (John Lloyd Cruz) is an account manager in the bank owned by the family of his girlfriend of four years, Daphne Recto (Maricar Reyes). While he's sure he loves her and has no regrets about the life and love he's chosen, he's been feeling restless and lonely, asking himself if this is the life he really wants.
Mia Samonte (Bea Alonzo) works as a front desk officer in a hotel in Malaysia. She and Alan have their fateful meeting on board the Pasig River Ferry. Mia is a breath of fresh air in Alan's otherwise stale and stifling existence.

Fate and faith, and time and timing are two of the themes discussed in the film. And yes, the idea of a whirlwind romance. Could you really fall in love with a stranger in a matter of days? And should that prove to be real, can your love withstand time and distance? Can that love survive the reality heartbreak brought about by history and an innate sense of responsibility and decency?

Before I saw the film, I was wondering if Miss You Like Crazy is as good or even better than One More Chance. Because I fell in love with Bea-John Lloyd tandem when I saw One More Chance (OMC). OMC had so much impact to me, so I had high expectation from Miss You Like Crazy. But after seeing the movie I realized that Alan and Mia are completely different with Popoy and Basha (One More Chance). Both movie have different approach and they both have strengths.

Miss You Like Crazy has a good balance of drama, humor, and kilig. It has depth and maturity. Bea and John Lloyd’s acting was truly convincing. Miss You Like Crazy proves that John Lloyd and Bea still have this outstanding on-screen chemistry. I love their chemistry.

Director Cathy Garcia-Molina did a great job bringing out the best from her actors.

Miss You Like Crazy is something you don't want to miss.

Never-ending laughs in “Nobody, Nobody, but Juan!”

The entire family is in for a treat when they watch “Nobody, Nobody but Juan,” entry of RVQ Productions, Joe Aldeguer Productions and Kaizz Ventures to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. The film features no less than Comedy King Dolphy, and a stellar cast that includes movie icons Eddie Garcia and Gloria Romero, the talented Quizon brothers Eric, Epy and Vandolph, screen sweetheart Heart Evangelista, and top comics Pokwang, Eugene Domingo, Bearwin Meily, and Mar Lopez, and the special participation of “Wowowee” host Willie Revillame.

The film is directed by Eric Quizon while the screenplay is by Bibeth Orteza.

The story is about senior citizen Juan (Dolphy) who lives in a nursing home in Chicago. A fanatic of the noontime show, “Wowowee,” Juan’s dream is to watch it live in the ABS-CBN studios with the hope of re-connecting with friends lost during the war.

“…Juan” is definitely one of RVQ/Kaizz’s biggest offerings for the MMFF in terms of cast, story, scope and production values. Sets depicting war-torn Manila was recreated, as well as vaudeville shows of the 1940s. The film was shot in Chicago and Metro Manila.

Moreover, there are numerous dance sequences. For instance, Epy, Vandolph, Pokwang and Heart have a charming ballet. In another scene, Dolphy joins the ASF Dancers for an upbeat production number. The soundtrack features many of the “Wowowee’s” songs like “Giling-Giling,” “Hep, Hep, Hurray” and many more. The film also has cameo appearances by the country’s foremost comedians.

For enhanced viewing pleasure, the soundtrack of “Nobody, Nobody but Juan” is recorded on state-of-the-art Dolby Digital.

Of course, the highlights are the wonderful gags, jokes and happy moments that are spread throughout the film from start to finish. Viewers are advised to stay until the end credits to see a special bonus feature.

Members of the faculty, parents, family, friends, guests and fellow graduates, I am honored to speak to you on this very important day.

First, I’d like to thank the administration and faculty of Mapúa Institute of Technology for their hard work and dedication on our behalf. I think that college students often take their college experience for granted, as just the step between high school and the real world.

So I thank every one of you who has made this institution what it is and every one of you who has supported me and my fellow students along the way. We have gotten a great education here which makes it far more than a step between high school and the real world but rather a stepping stone to our futures.

On a personal note, I would like to honor my parents in the audience who encouraged me and supported me and without whom this would not have been possible. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Fellow graduates, today we have finished something. Our contribution to the world will not be measured by the money we make or the accolades we receive but rather by the way in which we share our unique gifts with the world. And the only place to find those gifts is within yourself.

6-year-old boy floats away in balloon

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 6-year-old boy climbed into a homemade balloon aircraft and floated away Thursday, forcing officials to scramble to figure out how to rescue the boy as he hurled through the air.

The bizarre scene played out live on television and prompted fears that the flying saucer-shaped balloon would crash with the young child inside. FAA spokesman Mike Fergus says the agency has been notified and it was unclear whether traffic controllers had picked it up on radar.

Larimer County sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella says the device has the potential to rise to 10,000 feet. Sheriff's officials last saw the device floating south of Milliken, which is about 40 miles north of Denver.

"We were sitting eating, out looking where they normally shoot off hot air balloons. My husband said he saw something. It went over our rooftop. Then we saw the big round balloonish thing, it was spinning," said neighbor Lisa Eklund.

Larimer County sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella says the device, which is shaped like a flying saucer, has the potential to rise to 10,000 feet. Sheriff's officials last saw the device floating south of Milliken, which is about 40 miles north of Denver.

June 19 is the birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero.

Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan led by Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo. He was a proponent of institutional reforms by peaceful means rather than by violent revolution. The general consensus among Rizal scholars, however, attributed his martyred death as the catalyst that precipitated the Philippine Revolution.

The House of Representatives has passed on third and final reading House Bill No. 5408 which seeks to move the observance of Rizal day to June 19, the birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal, from December 30, the date of his execution. The measure will amend Administrative Code of 1987, specifically Section 26, Chapter 7, Book I of Executive Order No. 292.

She will spend the next few days in rehearsals before the tour begins Friday in Birmingham, England. The tour will continue through June before wrapping up in Bournemouth on July 5. Boyle is expected once again to sing "I Dreamed a Dream" during the shows.

I hope she will visit Philippines soon!

Lakers wins in Game 4

Yipee! LA Lakers won the NBA Finals Game 4. Lakers Lead with standing of 3-1 against Orlando Magic.

If you've seen the game, it was awesome. At first Magic was leading. However, in the second overtime game of the Finals, the Lakers top the Magic 99-91 when Derek Fisher comes through in the clutch.

I can't wait for game 5. I really hope Lakers will win this NBA Finals.

PCD Concert

OMG! I missed the Pussycatdolls concert. I checked my spam folder this morning and I saw an email from Uniliver that I have 4 bronze ticket for the Pussycatdolls concert. Too bad, I was too late.

Anyway, there's nothing I can do about it. I wish they'll be back soon. I really love their songs especially Hush Hush and Jai Ho.

Speaking of Jai Ho, I heard that the Cebu inmates do the Jai Ho. I haven't seen the video but I heard it was cool and it was so impressive production number.

Busy Wednesday

Another busy day for me. I need to finish at least half of my thesis. This time, I went to school early. I was there around 9 in the morning.

However, my sister texted me asking me out for a dinner. So, I tried to finish my work earlier than planned. My sister and I met in Makati. Then we headed to New Port for the bloggers event.

During the event, we were served with sumptuous meal then we had a little tour of the venue. I had fun and I met a lot of bloggers.

Anyway, it's almost midnight, so I guess I have to go to sleep. Good night

Never Ending Thesis

I just got home. I went to Mapua to work on my thesis. However, I still have so many backlogs. I need to finish my thesis within this month or I else I'm doomed.

I was in school around 1 in the afternoon, but time really flies. I didn't notice that it's already 8 in the evening. And I haven't done anything. I'm really tired. I guess I just need to rest.

iPhone 3GS for the win

Apple showed off their newest model of the iPhone today called the iPhone 3GS (the 's' stands for speed). It looks like the current 3G iPhone, with a rear facing camera and same basic trim and finish.

The new iPhone include a 3 mega-pixel camera, with auto focus, auto white balance and auto exposure - allowing you to change white balance and focus on the fly by a tap of the screen.

The iPhone 3GS will be available June 19th in North America and Europe. The 16GB version retails for $199, and the 32GB version is $299, both with a new AT&T 2-year agreement. And if you’re looking for a cheap phone, you can now buy last years iPhone 3G for just $99 bucks. All models are available for pre-order now over on the Apple Store.

However, the really exciting announcement to come out of the WWDC this past week has been the $99 iPhone. For less than $100, you can get an 8 GB iPhone 3G. Isn't it cool? I wonder when will the new iPhone arrive here in the Philippines.

During free time, you can always find me in my farm. I don't have a real farm but a virtual one. Farm Town is one of the most popular games on Facebook. . Farm Town is a very addictive FaceBook game. The game interface is easy to navigate. There are no unnecessary buttons to click.

There are a lot of ways to earn points: log in everyday and you get points, visit your neighbors’ farm and you can tend their farm and earn, plow and plant and you can sell your harvest in the Marketplace, get hired harvesting someone’s farm and earn your salary by working.
